About sales Offers / new items or stock and QR-Codes



Firstly, here is some basic knowledge about QR-Codes, before you get started:





1.) You have a mobile website or .tel page with quality content.
2.) You have some special sale offers, new stock, etc.. which you have listed under a few subdomains.

3.) Shorten the main subdomain URL, so that the code doesn't get too „heavy“.
4.) Generate a QR-Code for the shortened subdomain URL which contains the sub-subdomain offers.

Skip 5.), if your mobile web site is a Dot Tel domain.

(5.) Use capital letters after slashes: The code however will be smaller.
(If you already have a Dot Tel domain, you won't have to proceed in that way.)
Example: www.mycompany.com/SUBDOMAIN03.)

6.) Add a short descripton to the code, about the offers and products.

Because words are codes, and codes can contain alphabetic characters and cyphers/numeric characters, words are equal to numbers, in that sense.

So, why can't we just read codes, like we read words?
Because we haven't learned how to read codes.
It is probably as simple as that.
When scanning a code, we have a program for decoding codes, that a programmer had developed.

Let us say, that an illiterate (analphabet) had a program for scanning text, and which would turn words and text into pictures and picture stories: Bingo!
This sort of program would only replace a skill that the illiterate had not learned in school.
However: No need to adopt the skill, if there is a cheap program around for that.

Conclusion: Everything that is related to visualisation, can be learned and adopted as a useful skill, without having to rely on computers, for those tasks.

Today, at present, we nevertheless should take advantage of some little helpers, such as mind maps, that are either existing programs on computer operation systems, or that we draw by hand, on a sheet of paper (which is still the best usage for mind mapping, if you have some practice).

Codes, are not dry stuff, and neither boring: It is about pictures, colors, and having fun by doing visualisation. The only thing: You must try to understand codes, and what is behind codes, and about the huge potential that lies within the usage of codes.

I remember having read about so called "smart chips", some years ago: Well, codes can be smart to. You just have to create or add smart, interesting quality content to that code, that can be read by a click and scan of the code.

Codes, are about mobile web content, that is of interest and some benefit for the scanner/reader/consumer/customer/client, which likes to shoot from his hip, with a smart phone.

How to make a unique QR-ironed T-shirt?



How to make a unique QR-ironed T-shirt?


You will need to have QR T-shirt package from Kitchen Budapest for making a KIBU styled QR T-shirt. If you don't have one, and are interested in or you would like to have a QR Code T-Shirt please send us an email for this address: qrt-shirt@kitchenbudapest.hu.

Besides our QR T-shirt package, you will need an iron, an iron-table, and a tracing paper to continue.

You can generate your QR code for example using the free service on qrcode.kaywa.com. Please check what is the size of your sample QR code sticker - is should be 21x21 or 25x25 matrix. This is important to know, because you have to use a specific lengt of text to target a specific size of QR code while encoding.

(To read the QR code you will need to install decoder application to your computer or mobile device. You can find help on our T-shirt message project page under "Resources".)

For example, to generate a 25x25 pixel QR code you have to use a text containing more than 11 but less than 20 letters.

Here is a help:

21x21 QR code: 0-11 letters
25x25 QR code: 11-20 letters

a.) If you managed to generate your QR code, the next step is that you will have to reproduce it manually to have an ironable sticker.

Now you have to use the QR code sample sticker found in your package, and remove the exra pixels from it. Be careful, for you will remove pixels form the back side of the sticker, you have to think mirrored. You also have to take care to remove pixels from the white areas of the QR code.

QR code experiments

One strategy to avoid mistakes to print the QR code mirrored and remove the pixels while keeping one eye on the print.

Even better strategy is to print the QR code in the same size as the sticker, then temporary fasten the print to the sticker by tapes, and then use a pin to punch the white areas systematically to make visible holes on the sticker sheet. After doing this you can easily remove the punched parts from the sheet.

Don't trouble if you made a couple of mistakes - the QR decoders can handle some errors in the code.

b.) If you have your QR sticker you have to transfer on the T-shirt by ironing it. You will have to follow these instructions for best result:


1. Put the sticker sheet onto the T-shirt with the plastic glossy side up.

2. Put a sheet of tracing paper or fabric on the top of the transfer sheet to avoid the iron being contacted directly with the plastic side of the transfer sheet.

3. Iron it for 15-20 second by 160°C degrees with an average pressure on the sheet.

4. Wait for a couple of minutes for the sheet to get cold.

5. Remove the plastic film of the transfer sheet.
Your T-shirt you made in this way is durable and washable
at a maximum of 60°C degrees.


6. You are ready... smile and wear it!

Last step: customise your geek avatar!

Using the spare black pixels you removed from the transfer sheet you can customise the "geek" avatar printed on the T-shirt. For a basic idea you can make a feminin or masculin character as you can see on the picture below.


Or you can use your creativity at this part - just place the black pixel remains anywhere you want - to make hair, mouth, nose or shoes for the avatar - put a piece of tracing paper onto it and iron it!

A Little Bit Of QR Code Colour Loving For Dot Tel Domains




Others have noted that if you have enough contrast between foreground and background, most readers will still recognise the code – but lets make every block a different colour! Yup, it still works! Its a lot more prettier and fancier, but a thing to note is that you should still use colours that are a high contrast to the background. I guess I could have used a pale yellow instead of a white background to add more…but that’ll be just over doing it.

Originally developed for tracking car parts, a QR (short for Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional barcode. Most of us have seen one-dimensional barcodes in the shops; these are the tiger striped labels that can be scanned by a laser at the checkout to total our bill. But what can be done in one dimension can be done in two as well, and adding the dimension of height as well as length can increase the amount of information available.

In Japan most mobile camera phones can now automatically read QR codes. The codes are printed in magazines, on signs, buses, business cards and even t-shirts. When you scan the code the information in it can take your phone direct to the product’s website. For example in 2008 author Alexander Besher's sci-fi book Manga Man was promoted in Japan with T-shirts emblazoned with QR codes that when read took your mobile to the website to download a chapter. So in the future what you wear could become a doorway to the web. As Holmes might say, "Elementary my dear, what’s on?"

Trieste in tazzina

Il caffè, a Trieste, dopo tanto intreccio con la città, ha generato una lingua propria e difficile: c’è il Nero, caffè espresso in tazzina; il Nero in B, caffè espresso identico all’altro ma servito in un bicchiere di vetro; il Capo, caffè espresso macchiato con latte servito in tazzina; il Capo in B, caffè espresso macchiato con latte ma deposto in un bicchiere; il Deca, caffè espresso decaffeinato in tazzina ed il Deca in B, omologo in bicchiere. Il Capo Deca indica l’espresso decaffeinato macchiato in tazzina ed il Capo Deca in B lo stesso ma in bicchiere di vetro. Il Gocia indica la variante di una goccia di schiuma di latte al centro del caffè e, intuitivamente, la si può applicare solo al Nero, al Nero in B ed ai due Deca. Il Capo in B tanta dovrebbe allora indicare tanta schiuma nel latte che macchia il caffè. Ma non ne sono più tanto sicuro. In più, ad aumentare i dubbi del viaggiatore davanti al barista, quello che i triestini chiamano Caffellatte nel resto d’Italia è un cappuccino. In molti anni di frequentazione di questa bella città non ho mai capito cosa diavolo si debba chiedere se una mattina si vuol bere quello che in Italia si chiama caffellatt.

I Caffè / Trieste

Le prime Botteghe da caffè vennero aperte nella seconda metà del Settecento, forse seguendo l'esempio degli omonimi locali veneziani decantati dal Goldoni, ma assumendo immediatamente un'inconfondibile impronta viennese negli arredi e nei servizi offerti. I gestori di questi locali erano generalmente svizzeri (dei grigioni) e greci come greci, ma anche tedeschi, levantini ed ebrei erano i negozianti che, nella prima metà del XVIII secolo avevano, per primi, importato le preziose bacche di caffè.

Interno del Caffè Tommaseo dipinto dal goriziano Vittorio BolaffioLa prima Cafeteria di cui si hanno notizie fin dal 1768 era quella di Benedetto Capano, sita in contrada Bottari (poi S.Nicolò) al numero tavolare 775. A Benedetto Capano, proprio nel 1768, veniva recapitato un decreto della "C. R. Commissione di Pulizia (sic) e Sicurezza Pubblica" dove si leggono interessanti disposizioni relative ai locali pubblici.
Per esempio veniva concessa, alla Bottega da caffè, l'esclusiva della vendita di "Acque fredde e calde, Thè, Caffè, Cioccolata, limonate, sorbetti ed Acque sciropate" e la possibilità di tenere "Bigliardi da soldo e cuocere biscotterie". Degna di nota è pure la raccomandazione fatta al proprietario di non permettere nel suo nel suo locale "Scandali, ritrovi sospetti e Giochi, e di contribuire alle quiete e morigerateza". Alla morte del propritario, questa prima Bottega da caffè venne rilevata dal giovane di bottega Giacomo Miniussi che mutò l'insegna in Da Caponi.

Numerosi erano i caffettieri, nell'Ottocento, e svariati i locali sparsi per tutta la città. I Caffè che lavoravano di più erano indubbiamente quelli siti in Piazza Grande. Il più vecchio era il Carrara che poteva tener aperto tutta la notte. Se di giorno al Caffè si trovavano rivendugliole e capiscarichi che passavano il tempo giocando a faraone o panfil, di sera il locale era frequentato dalle compagni che si esibivano nel vicino teatro. Sempre in Piazza Grande, nel secolo sorso, sotto il Municipio c'era il Caffè Litke, poi Municipio, quindi Garibaldi, al pianterreno del Palazzo del Lloyd c'era il Caffè Orientale dove si ritrovavano pensionati, mentre palazzo Stratti ospitava, allora come oggi, il Caffè degli Specchi che riflette l'immagine di una città cosmopolita.

Poco distante dalla Piazza Grande, il Caffè Tomaso, oggi Tommaseo, allora rinomato per i suoi gelati, il Caffè Nuovo sito sotto la Dogana e il Caffè Stella Polare. Al caffè si andava per chiacchierare, riposarsi e bere il caffè seguendo un piccolo rito che consisteva nell'accompagnare la tazzina con un bicchier d'acqua spruzzata di mistrà. In alcuni locali c'era pure l'abitudine di sorbire il "caffè al bagno", cioè di berlo anche quando era traboccato nel piattino.

Dalla fine del Settecento, al Caffè, venne introdotta anche la possibilità di leggere i giornali. Fu il Commercio il primo locale che mise a disposizione di gente polita, a pagamento, sedici gazzette italiane, tedesche, francesi ed inglesi.

La clientela dei Caffè era, secondo Pierantonio Quarantotti Gambini (cfr. Al Caffè con Quarantotti Gambini inEnrico Falqui, Caffè letterari, Roma, Canesi, 1962), fortemente caratterizzata: c'erano i Caffè spiccatamente politici, quelli riservati agli ufficiali e agli alti funzionari austriaci, quelli prediletti dalla borghesia professionista, altri sede di incontro di anziani uomini d'affari o di sportivi e c 'erano, ancor più numerosi degli altri, i Caffè letterari.

Tornado alla descrizione dei locali, va detto che, accanto ai maggiori, c'erano moltissimi piccoli Caffè caratterizzati per l'immancabile presenza della cuccuma di rame che bolliva instancabile, sul fornello. (Soltanto con il primo dopoguerra il moka abbandonò la cuccuma per diventare espresso e uscire dagli oziosi Caffè per entrare nei frettolosi bar) Il più pittoresco pare fosse il Caffè Greco sito in Piazza della Borsa con tanti tavoli esterni dove i clienti levantini fumavano il narghilé o adoperavano lunghi bocchini e pipe di gelsomino. Non si poteva fumare invece al Caffè della Borsa, poi Borsa Vecchia, dove si ritrovavano gli ebrei polacchi che venivano in città per acquistare cedri rituali. C'erano Caffè, per così dire, malfamati quali Alla Minerva e Marittimo siti in quella Via Crosada, ricordata da ogni triestino per la vicenda di Antonio Freno.

Moltissimi sono i nomi che si potrebbero menzionare di Caffè che furono e di Caffè che sono ancora l'immagine di Trieste, di una città che muta volto e abitudini passando dalla stagione invernale a quella estiva. Anche i Caffè si adeguano alle stagioni: d'inverno sono affollatissime le sale interne con il loro arredo ottocenteco o liberty e lo spirito inconfondibilmente viennese; d'estate vengono preferiti i tavolini all'aperto e i Caffè sembrano quelli di una località balneare. Ricordiamo, per concludere la carrellata, il Caffè San Marco che, inaugurato nel 1914, e superate alterne vicende fauste e infauste, è ancor oggi testimone dello spirito mitteleuropeo della città.
